Have you ever stepped back and really looked at the beauty in your children? Their joy, laughter, maturity {well… age appropriate!}, their views and thoughts… their mannerisms… what makes their eyes light up with wonder and joy? It’s amazing how each year when I spend the week before New Years simply reflecting on my children and how much they have beautifully grown over the past year. Sometimes the growth happened naturally and sometimes the growth happened with a painful journey or two. I am reminded of a simple scripture from Ecclesiastes that God makes things beautiful in time… His time… not ours…
The key point in the scripture is the phrase “it’s time”. Meaning each child grows according to when it is time for them to grow. As a mother, sometimes I wish the growth was faster/ slower at times… but then I need to step back and remember that God knows when to provide what is best for them.
As I reflect on all this, I must remember that my children too have their own walk with God and he too will help them become more like Him… each journey… each trial… each teachable moment… my role in all this… to grace my children with my love … where they are… and to gently encourage and support them… where they are going… and to let God do the heavy lifting {Prayer… Prayer… Prayer}!
So my challenge to all of you this week is to make a list of all the beautiful things about each of your children… savor it and relish it… and share it with your children…
… and pray that God will inspire you to think of creative ways to encourage new growth in them to help them get to the next level…
Simply beautiful…
